Jack was born in Canberra, Australia where he lived until he was 10years old before his  parents Jack and Gwen moved back to there native Scotland along with sister and brother Kelly and Paul.

After a few successful years of playing football Jacks attention soon turned to Golf where he quickly become a scratch player at 15 years old and represented Scotland at all levels peaking in 2002 when Jack represented Scotland In the Eisenhower World team championships in Kuala Lumpur. After a successful Amateur career which included amongst some other impressive finishes winning the Welsh Amatuer stroke play championship and the Australian Amatuer Championship.

Jack turned professional in 2003 signing with the world renowned International Sports Management company and became part of Chubby Chandlers fast growing stable. Making his debut at the BMW championship in Germany on the European Tour.

After a decade of competing on the European Challenge Tour, Jack finally achieved his goal of winning a European Tour card when he played through every round of Qualifying School to secure his place for the 2014 season. In a very tight final round, Jack finished in one of the top 25 places which guaranteed him a first start on the European Tour.
